annette hollywood ist künstlerin und lebt in berlin. in ihren multimedialen arbeiten untersucht sie massenmediale und popkulturelle phänomene und beschäftigt sich mit fragen von autorenschaft, gender, dem starsystem, sowie mit der rolle von kunst und künstlerinnen in diesen. teil ihrer künstlerischen praxis ist auch ihr engagement in künstlerverbänden, für die sie zahlreiche projekte zu den bedingungen künstlerischer arbeit entwickelt hat.
annette hollywood hat freie kunst an der hochschule für bildende künste braunschweig studiert und war visiting scholar der new york university. sie hat zahlreiche auszeichnungen erhalten, wie ein arbeitsstipendium der stiftung kunstfonds, bonn; den preis der deutschen filmkritik bei den internationalen kurzfilmtagen oberhausen und ein stipendium am deutschen studienzentrum in venedig. ihre arbeiten werden national und international in ausstellungen und filmfestivals präsentiert z. b. bei in the loop: contemporary video art, national portrait gallery, washington; international biennale of contemporary art, nationalgalerie, prag; kunstfilmbiennale, museum ludwig, köln; galerie für zeitgenössische kunst, leipzig; 55. internationale filmfestspiele berlin und goethe instituten weltweit.
annette hollywood is a berlin-based artist. in her multi-media works, she examines the mass media and pop cultural phenomena, looking at questions of authorship, gender, the star-system and the role of art and the artist within these. her practice also includes her engagement in artists associations for which she has developed numerous projects of networking, mediation, and reflection on processes in the art system, the conditions of artistic productions and the relations between art and society.
she studied fine art at braunschweig’s hochschule für bildende künste and was a visiting scholar at new york university. hollywood was granted several residencies and awards such as stiftung kunstfonds, bonn; prize of the association of german film critics at the internationale kurzfilmtage oberhausen and a fellowship at venice’s deutsches studienzentrum. her works have been shown nationally and internationally at exhibitions and screenings e.g. in the loop: contemporary video art, national portrait gallery, washington; international biennale of contemporary art, national gallery prague; kunstfilmbiennale, museum ludwig, cologne; galerie für zeitgenössische kunst, leipzig; the 55th internationale filmfestspiele berlin, and at goethe institutes around the world.
